The second in the Clarkson Research Studies' series of Shipping Sector Reports focuses on Suezmax Tankers.

Due to their smaller dimensions, Suezmax tankers are able to serve some of the fastest growing oil producing regions. The navigational constraints of the Bosphorus make increased production in the South Caucasus and Central Asia region particularly relevant to the Suezmax market, and the Suezmax Sector Report looks in detail at oil trade in this area.

The report also looks at the central issue of fleet replacement. The age profile of the tanker fleet is changing, and sentiment continues to move towards double-hulled ships following several high-profile incidents involving 1970's-built single-hulled tankers. This report examines the response to the Erika and the Prestige incidents, and its likely impact on the Suezmax supply situation over the next decade. How many new ships will be needed to replace single-hulled vessels?
